Study on the economic importance of the European sawmill industry and its impact in the forest-based Industry

Sawmill industry in the heart of the bio-based economy

Europe is one the three leading regions for the production of sawnwood in the world at the same level as North America and Asia. In Europe the sawmill industry consumes more than 42 % of the whole harvested wooden biomass and is responsible for more than 70 % of the forest owner‘s income.
