A wooden statue for celebrating the International Forest Day

The World Forestry Day has been celebrated by the Swiss EOS Member with a wood statue representing Mr Segantini.

The wood statue, made with wood originated from the Swiss forest has been created to honoured Mr Giovanni Segantini, an Italian painter known for his large pastoral landscapes of the Alps. He was one of the most famous artists in Europe in the late 19th century, and his paintings  are collected by major museums.

The statue of Segantini was inaugurated on 21 March 2017 and placed on the Jungfraujoch Mountain, on the occasion of the International Day of the forest. The magnificent view of many of Switzerland’s mountains peaks and the Aletsch Glacier (altitude of 3454 meters) is certainly correspond to Segantini's idea of ​​the Alpine panorama.

In the picture, the EOS Member Mr Hansruedi Streiff Director of the Swiss Timber Industry Association and Director of the Swiss Forest Entrepreneurs Association and the wooden statue of Segantini inaugurated on the occasion of the International Day of the Forests.

 Segnatini wrote "I am now working passionately in order to wrest the secret of Nature's spirit from her. Nature utters the eternal word to the artist: love, love; and the earth sings life in spring, and the soul of things reawakens"
