On 7 April, the EU Commission published a so called "Briefing note" covering the period December 2016 to March 2017 on developments relevant to the implementation and enforcement of the EU Timber Regulation, compiled by UNEP-WCMC under contract with the European Commission.

The report includes a summary of the concerns related to the placement of Burmese teak from Myanmar into the EU, following the complaint presented by the Environmental Investigation Agency(EIA).
