The German Sawmill and Wood Industry Association (DeSH) is hosting the Congress of the Sawmill and Timber Industry on 14 and 15 March in Berlin. Focus of this year's conference is "Wood in Climate Change – Chances and Challenges“ (HOLZ im Klimawandel).

Around 400 participants from the fields of forest ownership and forestry, sawmilling and timber industry, service providers, associations, science and politics are expected to take part.

In the morning of Friday, 15 March 2019, the effects of climate change and calamities on the further process chain, in terms of raw material availability, roundwood quality, changes in material flows and recycling possibilities – up to manufacturing processes and products – will be discussed. 

The EOS President, Mr Auvinen will attend the conference and will speak at the roundtable discussion on “Between massive oversupply, blue stain and bottlenecks: Calamity timber and the markets”.
