Thünen Report on VOC emissions

Wood products can emit volatile organic compounds (VOC). In the scientific literature, data on this is prepared very differently and cannot always be compared with one another. In a review article, researchers from the Thünen Institute of Wood Research put the available information in a common context and published it. The work is focused on the essential VOCs from the group of terpenes, aldehydes and organic acids. It is considered to what extent and why the emission behavior differs between different woods and wood-based materials made from them.
