FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT – SAVE THE DATE

The Association of the Austrian Wood Industries (Fachverband der Holzindustrie Österreichs), together with the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS) and the European Timber Federation (ETTF), are inviting you to the marvellous city of Vienna for the International Softwood Conference 2023 – one of the most awaited events of the year in the wood world.

The conference will be held once again in a hybrid format. While this will give the possibility to attend the conference online to people who cannot travel, the organizers’ wish is to host as many physical participants as possible.

On October 11th, we are inviting early arrivers to a guided tour through Vienna, where we will visit remarkable wood buildings representing expertise and engineering by renown companies of the Austrian timber industry. In the evening, you are invited to join us in the spectacular hall of the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) for a welcome reception with cocktails and guided tours through the exhibition upon request. The 12th of October will be the main conference day, taking place in Hilton Vienna Park (“Gustav Klimt I-III” meeting rooms). We will then spend the evening in a spectacular venue in Vienna. This networking dinner will give you the opportunity to broaden your network and talk to main actors of the international softwood markets.

The conference will offer the opportunity to deeply scrutinize trends in the timber market focusing on facts and figures showing softwood production as well as consumption in the most relevant countries for the business – not just in Europe. The pandemic and the war in Ukraine have triggered remarkable changes in the way we live and in the geopolitical landscape. Speakers will try to gauge what the future will hold as the sawmillers and timber traders are reckoning with a rapidly changing world, with policy measures taken at national and European level also having a strong effect on the business.
