France joins the group of “EU forestry Member States”

France has joined the EU Forest Member States group, which operates under the name For Forest+. The main objective of the group is to develop informal cooperation on forest-related issues, exchange information and best practices, and seek common positions on forest policy issues in line with sustainable forest management.

Previously, the group consisted of the following EU Member States: Finland, Austria, Slovenia and Sweden.

Finland is chairing the For Forest+ group this year.

At a time when forests and wood products must play a central role in the transition to a low-carbon economy and adaptation to climate change, this gives us the opportunity to defend a balanced vision of forest-related issues in the European Union, taking into account the particular characteristics of our forests,’ said the French Minister for Agriculture and Food, Marc Fesneau.
