EU Commission gathers first contributions to the European Affordable Housing Plan

The Commission is currently holding a consultation process to shape the first-ever European Affordable Housing Plan. The plan aims to support EU Member States, regions, and cities in overcoming structural challenges, unlocking public and private investment, and ultimately improving access to affordable housing.

The first phase of the consultation, known as the call for evidence, closed at midnight 4 June. A total of 313 experts, organisations, and citizens have submitted their inputs to the open-ended form. All the submitted contributions can be found on the Have Your Say portal.

In the coming weeks, the Commission will analyse the inputs and launch the second phase, known as the open public consultation. It will consist of a detailed questionnaire designed to gather further insights from a broader audience on specific questions.

Citizens, public authorities and stakeholders across Europe will have the opportunity to contribute additional knowledge and perspectives during the public consultation phase, ensuring a well-rounded approach to tackling one of the most critical social issues of our time. The European Commission invites all interested parties to participate.
